100 MOSAIC MANDALAS FOR THE M80
Based on the success of the Wellness Trail VicRoads commissioned another contribution to a major road infrastructure project.
Several groups of people suffering from a mental illness contributed to the design and creation of 100 mosaic mandalas to be permanently displayed on a bridge abutment on the M80 ringroad.
This project contributed to a sense of purpose and identity and helped to raise the self-esteem in its participants.
The Wellness Trail
THE WELLNESS TRAIL
The concept of this project was to incorporate mosaic art works from marginalised groups in the community into a major infrastructure project.
It consisted of a number of expressive mosaic slabs placed at seating stops along the bike/walking trail associated with the Vic Roads Deer Park Bypass road infrastructure project.
Each slab represents someone’s idea of what might help to promote a sense of wellness.
HUNDERT VASSER INSPIRED TOILET BLOCK
Participants in the creative arts group in a number of supported residential facilities in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne participated in this project to embellish an uninspiring and tired toilet block in the local sports ground.
Art works were designed and created in the residential houses over a period of weeks. These works then came together to create group works inside and outside the toilet block.
